As we usually wake up to a beautiful sunrise, I wanted to share with you some benefits as well as over exposure to about one of the gifts God gave us, the Sun! Well, before God created man he made sure this environment could support life for His perfect creation. One of God’s utilities for His creation was the SUN. Our creator designed everything on earth to live in a relationship state with the sun. GEN 1:16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
The presence or absence of the sun affects how people think, feel and believe is nothing new. Before someone moves into a new house, apartment or dwelling, they should make sure all the utilities are on and working. Researchers have identified an affliction called “Seasonal Affective Disorder” or SAD. Found especially at northern latitudes SAD sufferers have regular bouts of depression during the short gloomy days of mid-winter. Their “mid-winter blues” can be relieved by prescribed amounts of exposure to artificial light of a specified brightness.
In a society where self-gluttony and image are at the forefront of our everyday activities, people are willing to sacrifice their health in order to enhance their appearance by obtaining the “Copper Tone Tan”. This doesn’t come without consequence. Over exposure to the sun results in cancer, dead wrinkled skin, premature aging, age spots and internal baking. For some, they believe it to be a fair exchange (damage to their largest organ for improved social attractiveness.) It’s sad to see how we were transformed into believing that aggressive tanning is appealing.
As Christian, we need to examine our self and think about whom we want to attract with our body. Our focus should be on creating and maintaining a healthy Temple for our Lord and not exchanging any potential harm to our health for social appeal. Most of our society focus on self instead of family or improving a relationship with God. Some people even feel inadequate or less of a person without social things (tan, cover model body, latest fashion, jewelry, or hair style, etc).
By feeling you or someone has to “add” to self in order to feel special or be worthy is wrong. God didn’t make any mistakes. God made you perfect. He loves and accepts us just the way he made us. Nothing else needs to be added for His love.
